Chapter 14

1 Now it came to pass1961 upon a day,3117 that Jonathan3083 the son1121 of Saul7586 said559 unto413 the young man5288 that bore5375 his armor,3627 Come,1980 and let us go over5674 to413 the Philistines'6430 garrison,4673 that834 is on the other side.4480 5676 1975 But he told5046 not3808 his father.1

2 And Saul7586 tarried3427 in the uttermost part7097 of Gibeah1390 under8478 a pomegranate tree7416 which834 is in Migron:4051 and the people5971 that834 were with5973 him were about six8337 hundred3967 men;376

3 And Ahiah,281 the son1121 of Ahitub,285 Ichabod's350 brother,251 the son1121 of Phinehas,6372 the son1121 of Eli,5941 the LORD's3068 priest3548 in Shiloh,7887 wearing5375 an ephod.646 And the people5971 knew3045 not3808 that3588 Jonathan3083 was gone.1980

4 And between996 the passages,4569 by which834 Jonathan3083 sought1245 to go over5674 unto5921 the Philistines'6430 garrison,4673 there was a sharp8127 rock5553 on the one4480 2088 side,4480 5676 and a sharp8127 rock5553 on the other4480 2088 side:4480 5676 and the name8034 of the one259 was Bozez,949 and the name8034 of the other259 Seneh.5573

5 The forefront8127 of the one259 was situated4690 northward4480 6828 over against4136 Michmash,4363 and the other259 southward4480 5045 over against4136 Gibeah.1387

6 And Jonathan3083 said559 to413 the young man5288 that bore5375 his armor,3627 Come,1980 and let us go over5674 unto413 the garrison4673 of these428 uncircumcised:6189 it may be that194 the LORD3068 will work6213 for us: for3588 there is no369 restraint4622 to the LORD3068 to save3467 by many7227 or176 by few.4592

7 And his armorbearer3627 5375 said559 unto him, Do6213 all3605 that834 is in thine heart:3824 turn5186 thee; behold,2009 I am with5973 thee according to thy heart.3824

8 Then said559 Jonathan,3083 Behold,2009 we587 will pass over5674 unto413 these men,376 and we will discover ourselves1540 unto413 them.

9 If518 they say559 thus3541 unto413 us, Tarry1826 until5704 we come5060 to413 you; then we will stand still5975 in our place,8478 and will not3808 go up5927 unto413 them.

10 But if518 they say559 thus,3541 Come up5927 unto5921 us; then we will go up:5927 for3588 the LORD3068 hath delivered5414 them into our hand:3027 and this2088 shall be a sign226 unto us.

11 And both8147 of them discovered themselves1540 unto413 the garrison4673 of the Philistines:6430 and the Philistines6430 said,559 Behold,2009 the Hebrews5680 come forth3318 out of4480 the holes2356 where834 8033 they had hid themselves.2244

12 And the men376 of the garrison4675 answered6030 853 Jonathan3083 and his armorbearer,3627 5375 and said,559 Come up5927 to413 us, and we will show3045 you a thing.1697 And Jonathan3083 said559 unto413 his armorbearer,3627 5375 Come up5927 after310 me: for3588 the LORD3068 hath delivered5414 them into the hand3027 of Israel.3478

13 And Jonathan3083 climbed up5927 upon5921 his hands3027 and upon5921 his feet,7272 and his armorbearer3627 5375 after310 him: and they fell5307 before6440 Jonathan;3083 and his armorbearer3627 5375 slew4191 after310 him.

14 And that first7223 slaughter,4347 which834 Jonathan3083 and his armorbearer3627 5375 made,5221 was1961 about twenty6242 men,376 within as it were a half2677 acre4618 of land,7704 which a yoke6776 of oxen might plow.

15 And there was1961 trembling2731 in the host,4264 in the field,7704 and among all3605 the people:5971 the garrison,4673 and the spoilers,7843 they1992 also1571 trembled,2729 and the earth776 quaked:7264 so it was1961 a very great430 trembling.2731

16 And the watchmen6822 of Saul7586 in Gibeah1390 of Benjamin1144 looked;7200 and, behold,2009 the multitude1995 melted away,4127 and they went1980 on beating down1986 one another.

17 Then said559 Saul7586 unto the people5971 that834 were with854 him, Number6485 now,4994 and see7200 who4310 is gone1980 from4480 5973 us. And when they had numbered,6485 behold,2009 Jonathan3083 and his armorbearer3627 5375 were not369 there.

18 And Saul7586 said559 unto Ahiah,281 Bring hither5066 the ark727 of God.430 For3588 the ark727 of God430 was1961 at that1931 time3117 with the children1121 of Israel.3478

19 And it came to pass,1961 while5704 Saul7586 talked1696 unto413 the priest,3548 that the noise1995 that834 was in the host4264 of the Philistines6430 went on1980 and increased:1980 7227 and Saul7586 said559 unto413 the priest,3548 Withdraw622 thine hand.3027

20 And Saul7586 and all3605 the people5971 that834 were with854 him assembled themselves,2199 and they came935 to5704 the battle:4421 and, behold,2009 every man's376 sword2719 was1961 against his fellow,7453 and there was a very3966 great1419 discomfiture.4103

21 Moreover the Hebrews5680 that were1961 with the Philistines6430 before865 that time,8032 which834 went up5927 with5973 them into the camp4264 from the country round about,5439 even they1992 also1571 turned to be1961 with5973 the Israelites3478 that834 were with5973 Saul7586 and Jonathan.3083

22 Likewise all3605 the men376 of Israel3478 which had hid themselves2244 in mount2022 Ephraim,669 when they heard8085 that3588 the Philistines6430 fled,5127 even they1992 also1571 followed hard1692 after310 them in the battle.4421

23 So the LORD3068 saved3467 853 Israel3478 that1931 day:3117 and the battle4421 passed over5674 unto853 Beth-aven.1007

24 And the men376 of Israel3478 were distressed5065 that1931 day:3117 for Saul7586 had adjured422 853 the people,5971 saying,559 Cursed779 be the man376 that834 eateth398 any food3899 until5704 evening,6153 that I may be avenged5358 on mine enemies.4480 341 So none3808 3605 of the people5971 tasted2938 any food.3899

25 And all3605 they of the land776 came935 to a wood;3293 and there was1961 honey1706 upon5921 6440 the ground.7704

26 And when the people5971 were come935 into413 the wood,3293 behold,2009 the honey1706 dropped;1982 but no369 man put5381 his hand3027 to413 his mouth:6310 for3588 the people5971 feared3372 853 the oath.7621

27 But Jonathan3083 heard8085 not3808 when his father1 charged the people with the oath:7650 853 5971 wherefore he put forth7971 853 the end7097 of the rod4294 that834 was in his hand,3027 and dipped2881 it853 in a honeycomb,3295 1706 and put7725 his hand3027 to413 his mouth;6310 and his eyes5869 were enlightened.215

28 Then answered6030 one376 of the people,4480 5971 and said,559 Thy father1 straitly charged the people with an oath,7650 7650 853 5971 saying,559 Cursed779 be the man376 that834 eateth398 any food3899 this day.3117 And the people5971 were faint.5888

29 Then said559 Jonathan,3083 My father1 hath troubled5916 853 the land:776 see,7200 I pray you,4994 how3588 mine eyes5869 have been enlightened,215 because3588 I tasted2938 a little4592 of this2088 honey.1706

30 How much more,637 3588 if haply3588 3863 the people5971 had eaten freely398 398 today3117 of the spoil4480 7998 of their enemies341 which834 they found?4672 for3588 had there not3808 been now6258 a much greater7235 slaughter4347 among the Philistines?6430

31 And they smote5221 the Philistines6430 that1931 day3117 from Michmash4480 4363 to Aijalon:357 and the people5971 were very3966 faint.5888

32 And the people5971 flew6213 upon413 the spoil,7998 and took3947 sheep,6629 and oxen,1241 and calves,1121 1241 and slew7819 them on the ground:776 and the people5971 did eat398 them with5921 the blood.1818

33 Then they told5046 Saul,7586 saying,559 Behold,2009 the people5971 sin2398 against the LORD,3068 in that they eat398 with5921 the blood.1818 And he said,559 Ye have transgressed:898 roll1556 a great1419 stone68 unto413 me this day.3117

34 And Saul7586 said,559 Disperse yourselves6327 among the people,5971 and say559 unto them, Bring me hither5066 413 every man376 his ox,7794 and every man376 his sheep,7716 and slay7819 them here,2088 and eat;398 and sin2398 not3808 against the LORD3068 in eating398 with413 the blood.1818 And all3605 the people5971 brought5066 every man376 his ox7794 with3027 him that night,3915 and slew7819 them there.8033

35 And Saul7586 built1129 an altar4196 unto the LORD:3068 the same was the first2490 altar4196 that he built1129 unto the LORD.3068

36 And Saul7586 said,559 Let us go down3381 after310 the Philistines6430 by night,3915 and spoil962 them until5704 the morning1242 light,216 and let us not3808 leave7604 a man376 of them. And they said,559 Do6213 whatsoever3605 seemeth5869 good2896 unto thee. Then said559 the priest,3548 Let us draw near7126 hither1988 unto413 God.430

37 And Saul7586 asked counsel7592 of God,430 Shall I go down3381 after310 the Philistines?6430 wilt thou deliver5414 them into the hand3027 of Israel?3478 But he answered6030 him not3808 that1931 day.3117

38 And Saul7586 said,559 Draw ye near5066 hither,1988 all3605 the chief6438 of the people:5971 and know3045 and see7200 wherein4100 this sin2403 hath been1961 this2063 day.3117

39 For,3588 as the LORD3068 liveth,2416 which saveth3467 853 Israel,3478 though3588 518 it be3426 in Jonathan3083 my son,1121 he shall surely die.4191 4191 But there was not a man369 among all4480 3605 the people5971 that answered6030 him.

40 Then said559 he unto413 all3605 Israel,3478 Be1961 ye859 on one259 side,5676 and I589 and Jonathan3083 my son1121 will be1961 on the other259 side.5676 And the people5971 said559 unto413 Saul,7586 Do6213 what seemeth5869 good2896 unto thee.

41 Therefore Saul7586 said559 unto413 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 Give3051 a perfect8549 lot. And Saul7586 and Jonathan3083 were taken:3920 but the people5971 escaped.3318

42 And Saul7586 said,559 Cast5307 lots between996 me and Jonathan3083 my son.1121 And Jonathan3083 was taken.3920

43 Then Saul7586 said559 to413 Jonathan,3083 Tell5046 me what4100 thou hast done.6213 And Jonathan3083 told5046 him, and said,559 I did but taste2938 2938 a little4592 honey1706 with the end7097 of the rod4294 that834 was in mine hand,3027 and, lo,2009 I must die.4191

44 And Saul7586 answered,559 God430 do6213 so3541 and more3254 also:3541 for3588 thou shalt surely die,4191 4191 Jonathan.3083

45 And the people5971 said559 unto413 Saul,7586 Shall Jonathan3083 die,4191 who834 hath wrought6213 this2063 great1419 salvation3444 in Israel?3478 God forbid:2486 as the LORD3068 liveth,2416 there shall not518 one hair4480 8185 of his head7218 fall5307 to the ground;776 for3588 he hath wrought6213 with5973 God430 this2088 day.3117 So the people5971 rescued6299 853 Jonathan,3083 that he died4191 not.3808

46 Then Saul7586 went up5927 from following4480 310 the Philistines:6430 and the Philistines6430 went1980 to their own place.4725

47 So Saul7586 took3920 the kingdom4410 over5921 Israel,3478 and fought3898 against all3605 his enemies341 on every side,5439 against Moab,4124 and against the children1121 of Ammon,5983 and against Edom,123 and against the kings4428 of Zobah,6678 and against the Philistines:6430 and whithersoever3605 834 he turned6437 himself, he vexed7561 them.

48 And he gathered6213 a host,2428 and smote5221 853 the Amalekites,6002 and delivered5337 853 Israel3478 out of the hands4480 3027 of them that spoiled8154 them.

49 Now the sons1121 of Saul7586 were1961 Jonathan,3083 and Ishui,3440 and Melchi-shua:4444 and the names8034 of his two8147 daughters1323 were these; the name8034 of the firstborn1067 Merab,4764 and the name8034 of the younger6996 Michal: 4324

50 And the name8034 of Saul's7586 wife802 was Ahinoam,293 the daughter1323 of Ahimaaz:290 and the name8034 of the captain8269 of his host6635 was Abner,74 the son1121 of Ner,5369 Saul's7586 uncle.1730

51 And Kish7027 was the father1 of Saul;7586 and Ner5369 the father1 of Abner74 was the son1121 of Abiel.22

52 And there was1961 sore2389 war4421 against5921 the Philistines6430 all3605 the days3117 of Saul:7586 and when Saul7586 saw7200 any3605 strong1368 man,376 or any3605 valiant2428 man,1121 he took622 him unto413 him.

2 Саул же сидел на окраине Гивы под гранатовым деревом на гумне, и с ним было около шестисот человек.

3 Ахия служил священником Господа в Силоме и поэтому носил ефод. Ахия был сыном Ахитува, брата Ихавода. Ихавод был сыном Финееса, а Финеес был сыном Илия, бывшего раньше священником Господа в Силоме. Народ же не знал, что Ионафан ушёл.

4 С каждой стороны от перехода, через который Ионафан собирался пройти в лагерь филистимлян, стояла большая скала. Одна скала называлась Боцец, а другая — Сене.

5 Одна была обращена на север к Михмасе, а другая — на юг к Геве.

6 Ионафан сказал своему молодому оруженосцу: «Давай перейдём в лагерь этих чужеземцев. Может быть, Господь через нас поразит этих людей! Ничто не может остановить Господа, и не имеет значения, много ли у нас солдат или мало».

7 Оруженосец ответил ему: «Делай, что считаешь нужным. Я с тобой душой и сердцем».

8 Ионафан сказал: «Мы перейдём к филистимским стражникам и станем у них на виду.

9 Если они велят нам остановиться, пока они сами не подойдут к нам, то мы остановимся и не поднимемся к ним.

10 Но если они прикажут нам подняться к ним, то мы поднимемся, так как это будет для нас знаком, что Господь позволит нам их победить».

11 Когда Ионафан и его оруженосец показались филистимлянам, филистимские стражники сказали: «Смотрите, иудеи выходят из ущелий, в которых они прятались!»

12 Тогда филистимляне из укрепления закричали Ионафану и его оруженосцу: «Поднимайтесь сюда. Мы научим вас уму-разуму!» Ионафан сказал слуге: «Иди за мной.

13 Ионафан начал подниматься на холм, цепляясь руками и ногами, и оруженосец его поднимался за ним. Они напали на филистимлян и в первой атаке убили около двадцати человек филистимлян на поле размером в половину акра. Ионафан шёл впереди и сражался с нападавшими, а оруженосец шёл позади него и добивал раненых.

15 Тогда филистимские воины, находившиеся на поле, все воины в лагере, и те, кто засел в укреплении, пришли в ужас. Даже самые храбрые из них трепетали от страха. Вся земля дрогнула, и великий ужас охватил филистимских воинов!

16 Стражники Саула в Гиве Вениаминовой увидели, что филистимские воины разбегаются в разные стороны.

17 И сказал Саул своему народу: «Проверьте людей. Я хочу знать, кто из наших воинов вышел из стана». Они проверили, и оказалось, что нет Ионафана и его оруженосца.

18 Тогда Саул велел Ахии принести ковчег Божий, который был в то время с израильтянами.

19 Саул говорил со священником Ахией, ожидая совета от Бога, а смятение в лагере филистимлян тем временем всё усиливалось. Тогда Саул сказал священнику: «Достаточно! Опусти свою руку и прекрати молитву!»

20 Саул поднял народ и пошёл к месту сражения. Филистимские воины были в великом смятении и обратили мечи свои друг против друга!

21 Тогда иудеи, которые служили филистимлянам и находились в их лагере, присоединились к израильтянам, сражавшимся вместе с Саулом и Ионафаном.

22 И все израильтяне, которые прятались в горе Ефрема, услышав, что филистимляне бегут, тоже присоединились к сражающимся и стали преследовать филистимлян.

23 В тот день Господь спас израильтян. Битва продолжалась до границ Беф-Авена. Вся армия, в которой насчитывалось около десяти тысяч человек, сражалась на стороне Саула. Сражение шло в каждом городе горной страны Ефрема.

24 Но Саул сделал большую ошибку в тот день. Израильтяне были измучены, а Саул взял с народа клятву, сказав: «Кто съест что-либо до вечера, пока я не разобью врагов своих, тот будет проклят!» И никто из воинов не ел.

25 Во время сражения зашли люди в лес и увидели на земле соты, которые были полны мёда. Израильтяне подошли к мёду, но никто не дотронулся до него. Они боялись нарушить клятву.

27 Ионафан же не знал об этой клятве. Он не слышал, когда отец его заставил народ дать эту клятву. Ионафан протянул конец палки, которая была у него в руке, обмакнул в соты и достал немного мёда. Он съел этот мёд и почувствовал себя намного лучше.

28 Один из солдат сказал Ионафану: «Твой отец заставил людей дать клятву. Он сказал, что тот, кто съест что-либо сегодня, будет проклят. И никто из людей не ел, поэтому они так и ослабли».

29 Ионафан сказал: «Отец мой принёс беду на землю! Смотрите, насколько мне стало лучше после того, как я поел немного этого мёда!

30 Было бы лучше, если бы люди поели из того, что отобрали сегодня у врагов своих. Мы бы тогда убили намного больше филистимлян!»

31 В тот день народ Израиля разбил филистимлян повсюду: от Михмаса до Аиалона. Народ очень устал и проголодался.

32 Израильтяне забрали у филистимлян овец, коров и телят и были так голодны, что стали закалывать животных на земле и есть мясо, когда в нём ещё была кровь!

33 Кто-то сказал Саулу: «Смотри! Люди грешат перед Господом. Они едят мясо с кровью!» Саул сказал: «Вы согрешили! Сейчас же прикатите сюда большой камень!

34 Скажите народу, что каждый должен привести ко мне своего быка и овцу и заколоть их здесь. Не грешите перед Господом! Не ешьте мясо с кровью». В ту ночь каждый из них приводил своих животных и закалывал их там.

35 Саул же построил алтарь Господу. Это был первый жертвенник, поставленный им Господу!

36 И сказал Саул: «Пойдём ночью в погоню за филистимлянами. Мы заберём у них всё, чем они владеют и не оставим в живых ни одного человека!» Народ ответил: «Делай, как считаешь нужным». Но священник сказал: «Давайте обратимся к Богу и спросим Его об этом».

37 Саул спросил Бога: «Должен ли я преследовать филистимлян? Позволишь ли Ты нам победить их?» Но Бог не дал ответа Саулу в тот день.

38 Тогда Саул сказал: «Соберите ко мне всех вождей! Пусть найдут того, кто согрешил сегодня.

39 Я клянусь перед Господом, Который спас Израиль: если даже сын мой совершил этот грех, он должен умереть». Но никто из всего народа не сказал ни слова.

40 Тогда Саул сказал израильтянам: «Вы встаньте с одной стороны, а я и сын мой Ионафан встанем с другой стороны». Народ отвечал: «Как пожелаешь, господин!»

41 И взмолился Саул: «Господи, Бог Израиля, почему Ты не отвечаешь слуге Твоему сегодня? Если я или сын мой согрешили, то пусть выпадет урим, а если народ израильский согрешил, то пусть выпадет туммим». И указаны были Саул и Ионафан, а народ был свободен.

42 Тогда Саул сказал: «Теперь снова подай знак и укажи, кто из нас виноват: я или сын мой Ионафан». И жребий пал на Ионафана.

43 Тогда Саул сказал Ионафану: «Расскажи мне, что ты сделал». Ионафан ответил Саулу: «Я только попробовал немного мёда с конца моей палки. Разве из-за этого незначительного проступка меня стоит предать смерти?»

44 Саул сказал: «Я поклялся, что Бог должен наказать меня, если я не исполню своего обещания! Ионафан, ты должен умереть!»

45 Но народ сказал Саулу: «Ионафан привёл сегодня Израиль к великой победе. Так должен ли он умереть?! Не будет этого! И видит Бог, мы клянёмся, что ни один волос не упадет с головы Ионафана, так как Бог помог ему сегодня в сражении с филистимлянами!» Так народ спас Ионафана, и он не умер.

46 Саул же не стал преследовать филистимлян, и они разошлись по домам.

47 Саул утвердил свою власть над Израилем и воевал со всеми врагами, живущими вокруг его земель. Он сразился с Моавом и с аммонитянами, с Едомом, с царём Сувы и с филистимлянами. И куда бы Саул ни пошёл, он всюду побеждал врагов Израиля.

48 Саул был очень храбр и спас Израиль от всех врагов, грабивших израильский народ, и разбил даже амаликитян!

49 Сыновей Саула звали Ионафан, Иессуи и Мелхисуа. Имя старшей дочери Саула — Мерова, а имя младшей — Мелхола.

50 Жену Саула звали Ахиноама. Она была дочерью Ахимааса. Военачальника войска Саула звали Авенир. Он был сыном Нира, дяди Саула.

51 Кис, отец Саула, и Нир, отец Авенира, были сыновьями Авиела.

52 Всю свою жизнь Саул храбро сражался против филистимлян. И каждый раз, когда Саул видел сильного и храброго человека, он брал его в отряд, который окружал и охранял царя.

6 Ионафан сказал своему молодому оруженосцу: «Давай перейдём в лагерь этих чужеземцев. Может быть, Господь через нас поразит этих людей! Ничто не может остановить Господа, и не имеет значения, много ли у нас солдат или мало».

7 And his armorbearer3627 5375 said559 unto him, Do6213 all3605 that834 is in thine heart:3824 turn5186 thee; behold,2009 I am with5973 thee according to thy heart.3824

7 Оруженосец ответил ему: «Делай, что считаешь нужным. Я с тобой душой и сердцем».

8 Then said559 Jonathan,3083 Behold,2009 we587 will pass over5674 unto413 these men,376 and we will discover ourselves1540 unto413 them.

8 Ионафан сказал: «Мы перейдём к филистимским стражникам и станем у них на виду.

9 If518 they say559 thus3541 unto413 us, Tarry1826 until5704 we come5060 to413 you; then we will stand still5975 in our place,8478 and will not3808 go up5927 unto413 them.

9 Если они велят нам остановиться, пока они сами не подойдут к нам, то мы остановимся и не поднимемся к ним.

10 But if518 they say559 thus,3541 Come up5927 unto5921 us; then we will go up:5927 for3588 the LORD3068 hath delivered5414 them into our hand:3027 and this2088 shall be a sign226 unto us.

10 Но если они прикажут нам подняться к ним, то мы поднимемся, так как это будет для нас знаком, что Господь позволит нам их победить».

11 And both8147 of them discovered themselves1540 unto413 the garrison4673 of the Philistines:6430 and the Philistines6430 said,559 Behold,2009 the Hebrews5680 come forth3318 out of4480 the holes2356 where834 8033 they had hid themselves.2244

11 Когда Ионафан и его оруженосец показались филистимлянам, филистимские стражники сказали: «Смотрите, иудеи выходят из ущелий, в которых они прятались!»

12 And the men376 of the garrison4675 answered6030 853 Jonathan3083 and his armorbearer,3627 5375 and said,559 Come up5927 to413 us, and we will show3045 you a thing.1697 And Jonathan3083 said559 unto413 his armorbearer,3627 5375 Come up5927 after310 me: for3588 the LORD3068 hath delivered5414 them into the hand3027 of Israel.3478

12 Тогда филистимляне из укрепления закричали Ионафану и его оруженосцу: «Поднимайтесь сюда. Мы научим вас уму-разуму!» Ионафан сказал слуге: «Иди за мной.

13 And Jonathan3083 climbed up5927 upon5921 his hands3027 and upon5921 his feet,7272 and his armorbearer3627 5375 after310 him: and they fell5307 before6440 Jonathan;3083 and his armorbearer3627 5375 slew4191 after310 him.

13 Ионафан начал подниматься на холм, цепляясь руками и ногами, и оруженосец его поднимался за ним. Они напали на филистимлян и в первой атаке убили около двадцати человек филистимлян на поле размером в половину акра. Ионафан шёл впереди и сражался с нападавшими, а оруженосец шёл позади него и добивал раненых.

14 And that first7223 slaughter,4347 which834 Jonathan3083 and his armorbearer3627 5375 made,5221 was1961 about twenty6242 men,376 within as it were a half2677 acre4618 of land,7704 which a yoke6776 of oxen might plow.

15 And there was1961 trembling2731 in the host,4264 in the field,7704 and among all3605 the people:5971 the garrison,4673 and the spoilers,7843 they1992 also1571 trembled,2729 and the earth776 quaked:7264 so it was1961 a very great430 trembling.2731

15 Тогда филистимские воины, находившиеся на поле, все воины в лагере, и те, кто засел в укреплении, пришли в ужас. Даже самые храбрые из них трепетали от страха. Вся земля дрогнула, и великий ужас охватил филистимских воинов!

17 И сказал Саул своему народу: «Проверьте людей. Я хочу знать, кто из наших воинов вышел из стана». Они проверили, и оказалось, что нет Ионафана и его оруженосца.

18 And Saul7586 said559 unto Ahiah,281 Bring hither5066 the ark727 of God.430 For3588 the ark727 of God430 was1961 at that1931 time3117 with the children1121 of Israel.3478

19 Саул говорил со священником Ахией, ожидая совета от Бога, а смятение в лагере филистимлян тем временем всё усиливалось. Тогда Саул сказал священнику: «Достаточно! Опусти свою руку и прекрати молитву!»

20 And Saul7586 and all3605 the people5971 that834 were with854 him assembled themselves,2199 and they came935 to5704 the battle:4421 and, behold,2009 every man's376 sword2719 was1961 against his fellow,7453 and there was a very3966 great1419 discomfiture.4103

20 Саул поднял народ и пошёл к месту сражения. Филистимские воины были в великом смятении и обратили мечи свои друг против друга!

21 Moreover the Hebrews5680 that were1961 with the Philistines6430 before865 that time,8032 which834 went up5927 with5973 them into the camp4264 from the country round about,5439 even they1992 also1571 turned to be1961 with5973 the Israelites3478 that834 were with5973 Saul7586 and Jonathan.3083

21 Тогда иудеи, которые служили филистимлянам и находились в их лагере, присоединились к израильтянам, сражавшимся вместе с Саулом и Ионафаном.

22 Likewise all3605 the men376 of Israel3478 which had hid themselves2244 in mount2022 Ephraim,669 when they heard8085 that3588 the Philistines6430 fled,5127 even they1992 also1571 followed hard1692 after310 them in the battle.4421

22 И все израильтяне, которые прятались в горе Ефрема, услышав, что филистимляне бегут, тоже присоединились к сражающимся и стали преследовать филистимлян.

23 So the LORD3068 saved3467 853 Israel3478 that1931 day:3117 and the battle4421 passed over5674 unto853 Beth-aven.1007

23 В тот день Господь спас израильтян. Битва продолжалась до границ Беф-Авена. Вся армия, в которой насчитывалось около десяти тысяч человек, сражалась на стороне Саула. Сражение шло в каждом городе горной страны Ефрема.

24 And the men376 of Israel3478 were distressed5065 that1931 day:3117 for Saul7586 had adjured422 853 the people,5971 saying,559 Cursed779 be the man376 that834 eateth398 any food3899 until5704 evening,6153 that I may be avenged5358 on mine enemies.4480 341 So none3808 3605 of the people5971 tasted2938 any food.3899

24 Но Саул сделал большую ошибку в тот день. Израильтяне были измучены, а Саул взял с народа клятву, сказав: «Кто съест что-либо до вечера, пока я не разобью врагов своих, тот будет проклят!» И никто из воинов не ел.

25 And all3605 they of the land776 came935 to a wood;3293 and there was1961 honey1706 upon5921 6440 the ground.7704

25 Во время сражения зашли люди в лес и увидели на земле соты, которые были полны мёда. Израильтяне подошли к мёду, но никто не дотронулся до него. Они боялись нарушить клятву.

26 And when the people5971 were come935 into413 the wood,3293 behold,2009 the honey1706 dropped;1982 but no369 man put5381 his hand3027 to413 his mouth:6310 for3588 the people5971 feared3372 853 the oath.7621

27 But Jonathan3083 heard8085 not3808 when his father1 charged the people with the oath:7650 853 5971 wherefore he put forth7971 853 the end7097 of the rod4294 that834 was in his hand,3027 and dipped2881 it853 in a honeycomb,3295 1706 and put7725 his hand3027 to413 his mouth;6310 and his eyes5869 were enlightened.215

27 Ионафан же не знал об этой клятве. Он не слышал, когда отец его заставил народ дать эту клятву. Ионафан протянул конец палки, которая была у него в руке, обмакнул в соты и достал немного мёда. Он съел этот мёд и почувствовал себя намного лучше.

28 Then answered6030 one376 of the people,4480 5971 and said,559 Thy father1 straitly charged the people with an oath,7650 7650 853 5971 saying,559 Cursed779 be the man376 that834 eateth398 any food3899 this day.3117 And the people5971 were faint.5888

28 Один из солдат сказал Ионафану: «Твой отец заставил людей дать клятву. Он сказал, что тот, кто съест что-либо сегодня, будет проклят. И никто из людей не ел, поэтому они так и ослабли».

29 Then said559 Jonathan,3083 My father1 hath troubled5916 853 the land:776 see,7200 I pray you,4994 how3588 mine eyes5869 have been enlightened,215 because3588 I tasted2938 a little4592 of this2088 honey.1706

29 Ионафан сказал: «Отец мой принёс беду на землю! Смотрите, насколько мне стало лучше после того, как я поел немного этого мёда!

30 How much more,637 3588 if haply3588 3863 the people5971 had eaten freely398 398 today3117 of the spoil4480 7998 of their enemies341 which834 they found?4672 for3588 had there not3808 been now6258 a much greater7235 slaughter4347 among the Philistines?6430

30 Было бы лучше, если бы люди поели из того, что отобрали сегодня у врагов своих. Мы бы тогда убили намного больше филистимлян!»

31 And they smote5221 the Philistines6430 that1931 day3117 from Michmash4480 4363 to Aijalon:357 and the people5971 were very3966 faint.5888

31 В тот день народ Израиля разбил филистимлян повсюду: от Михмаса до Аиалона. Народ очень устал и проголодался.

32 And the people5971 flew6213 upon413 the spoil,7998 and took3947 sheep,6629 and oxen,1241 and calves,1121 1241 and slew7819 them on the ground:776 and the people5971 did eat398 them with5921 the blood.1818

32 Израильтяне забрали у филистимлян овец, коров и телят и были так голодны, что стали закалывать животных на земле и есть мясо, когда в нём ещё была кровь!

33 Then they told5046 Saul,7586 saying,559 Behold,2009 the people5971 sin2398 against the LORD,3068 in that they eat398 with5921 the blood.1818 And he said,559 Ye have transgressed:898 roll1556 a great1419 stone68 unto413 me this day.3117

33 Кто-то сказал Саулу: «Смотри! Люди грешат перед Господом. Они едят мясо с кровью!» Саул сказал: «Вы согрешили! Сейчас же прикатите сюда большой камень!

34 And Saul7586 said,559 Disperse yourselves6327 among the people,5971 and say559 unto them, Bring me hither5066 413 every man376 his ox,7794 and every man376 his sheep,7716 and slay7819 them here,2088 and eat;398 and sin2398 not3808 against the LORD3068 in eating398 with413 the blood.1818 And all3605 the people5971 brought5066 every man376 his ox7794 with3027 him that night,3915 and slew7819 them there.8033

34 Скажите народу, что каждый должен привести ко мне своего быка и овцу и заколоть их здесь. Не грешите перед Господом! Не ешьте мясо с кровью». В ту ночь каждый из них приводил своих животных и закалывал их там.

35 And Saul7586 built1129 an altar4196 unto the LORD:3068 the same was the first2490 altar4196 that he built1129 unto the LORD.3068

35 Саул же построил алтарь Господу. Это был первый жертвенник, поставленный им Господу!

36 And Saul7586 said,559 Let us go down3381 after310 the Philistines6430 by night,3915 and spoil962 them until5704 the morning1242 light,216 and let us not3808 leave7604 a man376 of them. And they said,559 Do6213 whatsoever3605 seemeth5869 good2896 unto thee. Then said559 the priest,3548 Let us draw near7126 hither1988 unto413 God.430

36 И сказал Саул: «Пойдём ночью в погоню за филистимлянами. Мы заберём у них всё, чем они владеют и не оставим в живых ни одного человека!» Народ ответил: «Делай, как считаешь нужным». Но священник сказал: «Давайте обратимся к Богу и спросим Его об этом».

37 And Saul7586 asked counsel7592 of God,430 Shall I go down3381 after310 the Philistines?6430 wilt thou deliver5414 them into the hand3027 of Israel?3478 But he answered6030 him not3808 that1931 day.3117

37 Саул спросил Бога: «Должен ли я преследовать филистимлян? Позволишь ли Ты нам победить их?» Но Бог не дал ответа Саулу в тот день.

38 And Saul7586 said,559 Draw ye near5066 hither,1988 all3605 the chief6438 of the people:5971 and know3045 and see7200 wherein4100 this sin2403 hath been1961 this2063 day.3117

38 Тогда Саул сказал: «Соберите ко мне всех вождей! Пусть найдут того, кто согрешил сегодня.

39 For,3588 as the LORD3068 liveth,2416 which saveth3467 853 Israel,3478 though3588 518 it be3426 in Jonathan3083 my son,1121 he shall surely die.4191 4191 But there was not a man369 among all4480 3605 the people5971 that answered6030 him.

39 Я клянусь перед Господом, Который спас Израиль: если даже сын мой совершил этот грех, он должен умереть». Но никто из всего народа не сказал ни слова.

40 Then said559 he unto413 all3605 Israel,3478 Be1961 ye859 on one259 side,5676 and I589 and Jonathan3083 my son1121 will be1961 on the other259 side.5676 And the people5971 said559 unto413 Saul,7586 Do6213 what seemeth5869 good2896 unto thee.

40 Тогда Саул сказал израильтянам: «Вы встаньте с одной стороны, а я и сын мой Ионафан встанем с другой стороны». Народ отвечал: «Как пожелаешь, господин!»

41 Therefore Saul7586 said559 unto413 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 Give3051 a perfect8549 lot. And Saul7586 and Jonathan3083 were taken:3920 but the people5971 escaped.3318

41 И взмолился Саул: «Господи, Бог Израиля, почему Ты не отвечаешь слуге Твоему сегодня? Если я или сын мой согрешили, то пусть выпадет урим, а если народ израильский согрешил, то пусть выпадет туммим». И указаны были Саул и Ионафан, а народ был свободен.

42 And Saul7586 said,559 Cast5307 lots between996 me and Jonathan3083 my son.1121 And Jonathan3083 was taken.3920

42 Тогда Саул сказал: «Теперь снова подай знак и укажи, кто из нас виноват: я или сын мой Ионафан». И жребий пал на Ионафана.

43 Then Saul7586 said559 to413 Jonathan,3083 Tell5046 me what4100 thou hast done.6213 And Jonathan3083 told5046 him, and said,559 I did but taste2938 2938 a little4592 honey1706 with the end7097 of the rod4294 that834 was in mine hand,3027 and, lo,2009 I must die.4191

43 Тогда Саул сказал Ионафану: «Расскажи мне, что ты сделал». Ионафан ответил Саулу: «Я только попробовал немного мёда с конца моей палки. Разве из-за этого незначительного проступка меня стоит предать смерти?»

44 And Saul7586 answered,559 God430 do6213 so3541 and more3254 also:3541 for3588 thou shalt surely die,4191 4191 Jonathan.3083

44 Саул сказал: «Я поклялся, что Бог должен наказать меня, если я не исполню своего обещания! Ионафан, ты должен умереть!»

45 And the people5971 said559 unto413 Saul,7586 Shall Jonathan3083 die,4191 who834 hath wrought6213 this2063 great1419 salvation3444 in Israel?3478 God forbid:2486 as the LORD3068 liveth,2416 there shall not518 one hair4480 8185 of his head7218 fall5307 to the ground;776 for3588 he hath wrought6213 with5973 God430 this2088 day.3117 So the people5971 rescued6299 853 Jonathan,3083 that he died4191 not.3808

45 Но народ сказал Саулу: «Ионафан привёл сегодня Израиль к великой победе. Так должен ли он умереть?! Не будет этого! И видит Бог, мы клянёмся, что ни один волос не упадет с головы Ионафана, так как Бог помог ему сегодня в сражении с филистимлянами!» Так народ спас Ионафана, и он не умер.

46 Then Saul7586 went up5927 from following4480 310 the Philistines:6430 and the Philistines6430 went1980 to their own place.4725

46 Саул же не стал преследовать филистимлян, и они разошлись по домам.

47 So Saul7586 took3920 the kingdom4410 over5921 Israel,3478 and fought3898 against all3605 his enemies341 on every side,5439 against Moab,4124 and against the children1121 of Ammon,5983 and against Edom,123 and against the kings4428 of Zobah,6678 and against the Philistines:6430 and whithersoever3605 834 he turned6437 himself, he vexed7561 them.

47 Саул утвердил свою власть над Израилем и воевал со всеми врагами, живущими вокруг его земель. Он сразился с Моавом и с аммонитянами, с Едомом, с царём Сувы и с филистимлянами. И куда бы Саул ни пошёл, он всюду побеждал врагов Израиля.

48 And he gathered6213 a host,2428 and smote5221 853 the Amalekites,6002 and delivered5337 853 Israel3478 out of the hands4480 3027 of them that spoiled8154 them.

48 Саул был очень храбр и спас Израиль от всех врагов, грабивших израильский народ, и разбил даже амаликитян!

49 Now the sons1121 of Saul7586 were1961 Jonathan,3083 and Ishui,3440 and Melchi-shua:4444 and the names8034 of his two8147 daughters1323 were these; the name8034 of the firstborn1067 Merab,4764 and the name8034 of the younger6996 Michal: 4324

49 Сыновей Саула звали Ионафан, Иессуи и Мелхисуа. Имя старшей дочери Саула — Мерова, а имя младшей — Мелхола.

50 And the name8034 of Saul's7586 wife802 was Ahinoam,293 the daughter1323 of Ahimaaz:290 and the name8034 of the captain8269 of his host6635 was Abner,74 the son1121 of Ner,5369 Saul's7586 uncle.1730

50 Жену Саула звали Ахиноама. Она была дочерью Ахимааса. Военачальника войска Саула звали Авенир. Он был сыном Нира, дяди Саула.

51 And Kish7027 was the father1 of Saul;7586 and Ner5369 the father1 of Abner74 was the son1121 of Abiel.22

51 Кис, отец Саула, и Нир, отец Авенира, были сыновьями Авиела.

52 And there was1961 sore2389 war4421 against5921 the Philistines6430 all3605 the days3117 of Saul:7586 and when Saul7586 saw7200 any3605 strong1368 man,376 or any3605 valiant2428 man,1121 he took622 him unto413 him.

52 Всю свою жизнь Саул храбро сражался против филистимлян. И каждый раз, когда Саул видел сильного и храброго человека, он брал его в отряд, который окружал и охранял царя.
